New England Surfski Center is the Premier Location for East Coast Surfski Paddlers.

This new center is the first of it’s type in the Northeast. It is being offered and operated under the guidance of Ed Duggan, a seasoned surfski paddler and racer, who has paddled surf skis for 27 years. Ed is quite excited and looking forward to sharing his knowledge.  We offer instruction at all levels from beginner to racer.

Goal of Surfski Center

The goal of the Center is to get the beginning and intermediate paddler involved in the growing sport of surf ski paddling. Great emphasis will be placed on the beginner as it is extremely important that the beginner be  introduced to this growing segment in a proper fashion which includes live water sessions. This will give the entry level participant the necessary tools to move forward in the sport. Based on the participants level of ambition and motivation, he or she will be able to advance to the intermediate and advanced stages with the  potential of surf ski racing if that is ones individual goal.

Our Location

Our local waters are the “Gold Coast” of the north shore of Massachusetts, located near historic Salem Harbor we offer both protected and open ocean experiences.  From smooth seas to surf-able waves, our paddlers can incrementally move into more and more challenging conditions with confidence.

Our Programs

Racing-Focused Training and Technique Sessions

We offer private and small group  SurfSki Lessons with Ed Duggan, all levels are welcome, from beginners to experienced racers.  Our surfski center also offers clinics from expert paddlers and racers with international experience.

Weekly Races for Experienced Paddlers

The Salem Sound Surfski League, races weekly from Lynch Park.   Races end with a lively, short sprint to the finish line.

New England Surfski Center Welcomes Women to the Sport

The center will also offer programs to women only and mixed groups of women and men.  We help with selecting the right equipment, learning effective technique and understanding safety and the local waters.

Individual Training Available

If one-on-one instruction is your goal then that can also be arranged with the instructor.

Opportunities for Racing and Race Training

There will also be available a program for the paddler who truly wishes to be successful in racing a surf ski.  There are many opportunities for racing along the east coast and we can assist with planning a racing schedule to match your abilities.  We also host the Salem Sound Surfski League during summer months.
